A few fun things have happened lately. First, I entered the third trimester of pregnancy. I'm doing really well. I now have about two months left before this little one comes. I'm actually trying not to focus on it too much, since I have a lot to do, and I'm worried that if I focus on how much longer I have, the time will pass much slower. So, to combat this, I'm focusing on work.
Fun thing number two: I got a promotion! My manager left the company at the end of February. As soon as he gave his notice, he and several of my co-workers started hinting that I would be a good replacement (I have really nice co-workers). The team manager posted the job opening and invited all who were interested to apply. So I applied and waited. It took a long time. I was interviewed, and I waited. Meanwhile, I started taking notes on some of the tasks my manager did so that whoever took over the position would know what to do. I really would have liked to know if it was me. A week and a half ago, I got the official call. There had been a delay because of some HR stuff, but the position was confirmed and retro back to March 1 (which was nice since it was the day I officially started acting as manager since my manager had left).
Work has since gotten busier, but I think things are toning down a bit. There are several nice aspects about the promotion. One of those that I like is that time passes faster at work, which means the days pass faster, and my little boy will be here before I know it. I think that's a good thing anyway. I still have to gain more confidence to speak up, however. I knew this would be my hardest part. I can be very vocal if I have a strong opinion, but it's one thing to have an opinion, and another to voice it in front of some very important people in the company. I'll still be able to take six weeks off and I'll still come back to my manager role, but I also feel a little guilty about the work I'll be leaving behind. Just as with Becca, I've decided that if I end up going past my due date, it's okay because I'll be able to get through more of quarter end. Of course, I won't mind if he comes on time, but if he comes late, I'm prepared with reasons to comfort myself.
Those are the funnest things right now. I also appreciate the weather and I'm looking forward to going to California in a few weeks for my brother's wedding. It should be a lot of fun. We've been blessed.
